The future of home-building is electrification: ditching natural gas and powering our homes with electricity from an ever-cleaner grid. Homes and other buildings are the second largest source of greenhouse gas emissions in Berkeley. To combat climate change, Berkeley is phasing out natural gas in new construction, starting in 2020. Over 50 California cities are poised to do the same.
This free workshop will cover the nuts and bolts of electrifying housing:
~ How Berkeley’s building codes will affect new homes & ADUs
~ Examples & case studies of local, all-electric homes & remodel projects
~ Equipment & strategies that save time & money on all-electric project
~ Berkeley permit requirements for all-electric homes
